WEST CHESTER – State Senator Andy Dinniman announced Wednesday that West Chester East Sophomore Joe Amodei is one of three finalists in the Operation Safe Surf Video Contest.

“Education is key in keeping our children safe both on our streets and on the Internet. I cannot overemphasize the importance of teaching our kids how to identify dangerous situations and how to protect themselves,” Dinniman said. “These videos bring attention to the hidden dangers that could be just a keystroke or a mouse-click away.”

Operation Safe Surf, co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General and Microsoft, was launched last fall as a way for high school students to educate friends and families about Internet safety. The students were given the opportunity to create a 30-second public service announcement video about Internet safety.

The video Joe created is entitled ‘Chat Room.’”

The finalists have added final touches to their videos in a state-of-the-art production facility in Harrisburg. The public is invited to vote online between April 2nd through 23rd. Information and a link to vote for your favorite video can be found at www.senatordinniman.com.

“I encourage everyone to visit the Web site and vote for our local talent,” said Dinniman.

The video receiving the most votes will win the contest and be honored during a special program in Harrisburg on May 1st. The winning video will be broadcast on television
