| Dinniman Named to Technology Development Authority Board |
March 30, 2007 State Sen. Andy Dinniman announced Friday that he has been selected for a two-year term on the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority’s (BFTDA) board of directors. “Technological development is the driving force of Pennsylvania’s economic future,” Dinniman said. “This board will help foster new educational and economic opportunities for residents throughout the Commonwealth.” The BFTDA provides the funding that makes investments in economic, community and university-based innovations possible. Its Technology Development Grant program has created outreach and training programs to businesses and local governments and stimulated broadband access in the more rural parts of Pennsylvania. The BFTDA is the product of a merger between the Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the Pennsylvania Technology Investment Authority. Its board of directors comprises public and private sector representatives from the business and technology communities. State Senate Democratic Leader Robert J. Mellow (D-Lackawanna), who appointed Dinniman to the position, said the Chester County lawmaker will be an excellent asset to the board. “As an educator and former Chester County commissioner, Sen. Dinniman brings unique experience to this board,” said Mellow (D-Lackawanna). “He knows what a difference funding makes to these projects and communities, especially when it comes to technological advances. He will make a fine addition to the authority.” |
