WEST CHESTER - April 2, 2008 - Senator Andy Dinniman recently honored local volunteers at the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program’s (RSVP) Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Radley Run Country Club.

RSVP Volunteer of the Year award went to Betty Lou Eshun for her service at Brandywine Hospital and at Center for Advocacy of the Rights and Interests of Elders. Gerry Caggiano received recognition as the RSVP/Downingtown Area School District Volunteer of the Year for working with 6th grade technology/machine shop students at Lionville Middle School. And West Chester Area Communities That Care was honored as RSVP Station of the Year.

“It is always important to recognize the tireless efforts of volunteers like Ms. Eshun and Mr. Caggiano - seniors and retirees who continue to give their time, experience and energy for a better tomorrow,” Dinniman said. “I want to thank both of them for outstanding service and also remind others that our community organizations can always use a hand.”

RSVP matches volunteers age 55 and older with a variety of agencies and programs throughout Chester County. RSVP volunteers give 3,000 hours of yearly service to the community, valued at an estimated $500,000.
