UWCHLAN - State Senator Andy Dinniman and Pennsylvania’s Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs, Scott Wagner, visited 200 local veterans at their monthly breakfast at the Exton Diner on Tuesday.
“This is just a remarkable display of camaraderie and brotherhood. These monthly breakfasts draw veterans from all branches, generations and experiences,” Dinniman said. “I am just glad that General Wagner accepted my invitation to come to the breakfast and that we were able to discuss some of the benefits available for our heroes.”
Dinniman was also joined by Capt. Tony Passero and 1st Sgt. Gregory Wright at the breakfast. Capt. Passero commands Bravo Company, 1st battalion, 111th infantry, which operates out of the West Chester and Phoenixville armories. The company has mobilized and is scheduled to leave for Iraq in September.
Dinniman pointed out that come this fall, there will be more Pennsylvania National Guard troops serving overseas than at any time since World War II.
“No matter how you feel about the war, we need to support our troops,” he added.
At the breakfast, General Wagner fielded questions and discussed various support services for veterans. Dinniman also urged veterans to contact his office with any inquiries.
