WEST CHESTER (November 26) – State Senator Andy Dinniman wishes residents a Happy Thanksgiving and encourages travelers to take extra time and care on our roadways this holiday season.
“Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season and some of the busiest travel days of the year. I encourage all residents to follow these simple tips to enjoy a safe and happy holiday season,” Dinniman said.
They are as follows:
- Always wear your seatbelt. If you are traveling with a child be sure that they are properly secured in an appropriate safety seat;
- Keep informed of weather conditions and do not drive in hazardous weather unless you absolutely must;
- If you do drink this holiday season, do not drive. Please use a designated driver or call a cab; and
- If you are taking to the skies, monitor conditions for possible delays and remember the Transportation Security Administration’s rules for air travel and baggage. You can find them at http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm.
“Thanksgiving is a great time to reconnect with friends and family and to reflect on what is truly important in our lives. In the spirit of the season, I urge everyone to remember those less fortunate during the holidays and consider donating or volunteering your time to one of our many local charitable organizations,” Dinniman said.
