WEST CHESTER – State Senator Andy Dinniman recognized Chester County Sheriff Carolyn “Bunny” Welsh and her deputies Thursday for receiving the 2008 Crime Prevention Office of the Sheriff Award from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

Dinniman presented Sheriff Welsh with a Senate citation and thanked members of her department for their service and dedication.

“Sheriff Welsh and her deputies have shown just how important they are to crime prevention efforts. They have truly done a tremendous job in developing a community-based approach that keeps kids and families safe,” Dinniman said.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office was selected out of all 67 sheriff’s offices in the Commonwealth. Welsh said her office was honored to receive the award and would continue to strive to promote justice and prevent crime.

“We provide programs for all age levels, from ensuring that car seats are installed properly for a newborn’s first ride home, to preventing senior citizens from becoming victims of fraud or abuse,” Welsh said. “Each deputy is committed to serving and educating the citizens of Chester County with integrity and pride”
