WEST CHESTER (February 18) - State Senator Andy Dinniman announced today that two Chester County municipalities and the county recycling authority will receive $1,255,039 in total state funding for curbside recycling and yard waste programs.

“Whether it’s turning yard waste into mulch or plastic bottles into playground equipment, recycling is one of the easiest ways to improve our environment, reduce pollution and conserve energy. Now more than ever, it is important that we continue to support and invest in recycling programs,” Dinniman said.

The reimbursement grants are as follows:

  • $500,000 to West Bradford Township for curbside recycling;
  • $473,114 to Phoenixville Borough for the yard waste program;
  • $281,925 to the Central Chester County Recycling Authority for curbside recycling and the yard waste program.

The grants come through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Recycling Development and Implementation Grant Program.

In addition, Dinniman announced that Chester County has been awarded a $65,355 DEP grant to reimburse it for 50 percent of the costs of developing and operating household hazardous waste collection events held throughout the county last year.
