WEST CHESTER (January 8) - State Senator Andy Dinniman invited residents and senior citizens to attend a special Identity Theft Prevention Event set for Wednesday, January 13 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenixville Senior Center.
“Identity theft is a serious crime, and one that often targets senior citizens. People whose identities have been stolen can spend months or years - and thousands of dollars - cleaning up the mess made by thieves,” Dinniman said. “I encourage residents to attend this upcoming information session for helpful tips on how to prevent becoming a victim.”
The event is organized by the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance’s Office of the Consumer Liaison. It will feature important information on:
- The different ways identity theft occurs;
- How thieves use your information;
- The option of identity theft insurance; and
- What to do if your identity is stolen.
The Phoenixville Senior Center is located at 153 Church Street in Phoenixville.
For more information on the program or to request a guide on protecting yourself against identity theft, call Senator Dinniman’s office at 610-692-2112 or e-mail acirucci@pasenate.com.
