Dinniman: ACA Healthcare Enrollment Deadline is Friday
WEST CHESTER (December 11, 2017) – State Senator Andy Dinniman reminded residents that there are just a few days left to enroll in healthcare coverage for 2018 under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The deadline for individuals to enroll in or change 2018 marketplace health insurance closes on Friday, December 15th. Residents can only enroll outside of the open enrollment period if they experience a life event, such as the birth of a child.
“Every Pennsylvania family deserves the personal security and peace of mind that comes with health insurance that provides for preventative care and does not discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions,” Dinniman said.
Those in need of assistance can access local ACA navigators through localhelp.healthcare.gov, or contact Tyler in Senator Dinniman’s office at 610-602-2112.
While rate increases are predicted at certain silver level plans, additional subsidies have been provided for gold or platinum level plans so better plans may be accessible at a lower price this year.
If you are unsure if you qualify, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department offers a plan comparison tool at https://pa.checkbookhealth.org. This tool uses income information and your current doctors to locate and compare plans
Dinniman also warned consumers to do their research and be careful when purchasing as there are companies using misleading marketing to imply they are part of the ACA marketplace when they are not.
Healthcare.gov is the official ACA Federal Marketplace.
