WEST CHESTER (September 10) – State Senator Andy Dinniman on Tuesday announced two additional transportation projects to be funded thanks to the Act 89 Transportation Plan of 2013.

At its Tuesday meeting the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority approved $400,000 for pedestrian and traffic safety improvements in downtown Malvern and $916,300 for road improvements in Sadsbury designed to greatly alleviate traffic and improve safety at Route 30’s intersection with Route 10. Both projects will be funded by Act 89’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Program.MP900401482

“Today’s announced projects and the other Act 89 improvements in Chester County  — from widening Route 100 in Exton, repaving Route 30 on the Main Line, to building new train stations from Paoli to Parkesburg – are all happening because we passed Act 89 in November,” Dinniman said. “Chester County would not be moving forward – figuratively and literally – if we had stood still on transportation funding. All these current and planned projects are key to Chester County attracting great jobs and maintaining its quality of life.”

The funds for Malvern will be used to build a sidewalk on North Warren Avenue from King Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, to improve North Warren’s intersection with King Street, and enhance pedestrian access to Malvern’s SEPTA train station.

The other project will make safer the intersection of Route 30 and Route 10 by improving and updating a five-lane connector road between the two. The project calls for adding four traffic signals to the connector road and will allow the Lancaster General Health Center to expand and add 43 new jobs.
