Dinniman Announces Opening of Route 23 Bridge
WEST CHESTER (October 6) – State Senator Andy Dinniman today announced the opening of the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) Bridge.
“I am delighted that the bridge is open to traffic and the project was completed well ahead of schedule. I want to thank all of the area residents and commuters who made their voices heard earlier this year. The public outcry was the impetus we needed to move this project forward. I also want to thank PennDOT and its crews for accelerating the work schedule to get the bridge done about six months ahead of time.”
Construction on the 48-year-old bridge, which spans the Pickering Creek, began on April 20 and was initially not scheduled to be completed until March 2016.
However, after Dinniman called on dozens of motorists, businesses and residents who were negatively affected by the bridge’s closure to share their stories, work on the project was accelerated.
“I do appreciate PennDOT’s responsiveness to residents’ concerns and willingness to provide incentives to expand work hours which resulted in completing the bridge significantly ahead of schedule,” he added.
