WEST CHESTER (February 25) – State Senator Andy Dinniman said the stretch of Route 100 between Exton and Lionville will be widened to three lanes in each direction, and the work should begin this spring.

Dinniman said PennDOT recently announced that it awarded the project’s $17.3 million contract to Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County.

MH900442392“This stretch of Route 100 through the heart of Chester County carries up to 40,000 motorists a day; We know how busy it can get,” Dinniman said. “Therefore it’s very satisfying to announce a project to address this traffic congestion and further improve our quality of life.”

Officials from PennDOT said the project will also include a sound wall along southbound Route 100 between Rutgers Drive and Worthington Drive; a sidewalk along northbound Route 100 from Ship Road to Sharp Lane; and a sidewalk along southbound Route 100 between Rutgers Drive and Worthingon Lane.

PennDOT also said during construction, it will keep two travel lanes open in each direction during peak travel hours.
