Dinniman Announces Special Event to Help Students, Parents With their 2015-16 Federal Student Aid Forms
WEST CHESTER (February 6) – State Senator Andy Dinniman announced an upcoming special event to help graduating seniors and their parents fill out the recently released federal student aid forms.
On Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. at West Chester University, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will hold a special “Completion Session” to help students and parents fill out and send in their 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms.
The event is free and will be held at in Room 103 of W.C.U.’s Kershner Student Service Center. Event organizers prefer that those planning to attend pre-register by calling 610-436-2627.
“Fully understanding and applying for student aid is important first step toward a satisfying and successful college career, and the Feb. 21 event provides a great opportunity for students and their parents to go through the student-aid process together,” Dinniman said. “I can’t understate its importance; the FAFSA determines eligibility for federal grants, state grants, many scholarships, student loans and work-study programs,”
The deadline for high school seniors and other prospective college students and their families to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) May 1, 2015. However, colleges request that the FAFSA form be submitted as early as possible.
