Dinniman Leads Team to Win in Cow-Milking Contest at 101st Pa. Farm Show
Harrisburg (January 17) – State Senator Andy Dinniman recently led his team to a win in the Celebrity Cow-Milking Contest at the 101st Annual Pennsylvania Farm Show.
“I grew up on a dairy farm, so I know a thing or two about milking a cow,” said Dinniman, who also regularly participates in cow-milking contests at annual fairs throughout Chester County. “But to participate in a statewide contest like this was udderly thrilling.”
Dinniman was joined by Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, Pennsylvania Revenue Secretary Eileen McNulty, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Executive Director Joe Arthur and Representative Mark Gillen on the winning team.
Dinniman’s team edged out four other teams of five media personalities, agricultural representatives and legislators by producing nearly a pound of milk from a Holstein cow named “Bunny.”
“I want to thank the other competitors and my teammates for coming out to support agriculture and experiencing the dairy industry up close in this hands-on competition,” Dinniman said. “The Pennsylvania Farm Show is a one-of-a-kind event and it’s important that we continue to recognize the importance of farming and family farms as irreplaceable part of both our heritage and our economy here in the Commonwealth.”
The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, featuring 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibitors.
