Dinniman Marks Service Dog Awareness Month
WEST CHESTER (September 12, 2017) – State Senator Andy Dinniman recently received a surprise visit from Canine Partners for Life volunteers and service dogs-in-training in honor of National Service Dog Awareness Month.
Dinniman, a strong supporter of humane legislation in the state legislature, welcomed the group at his West Chester District Office and discussed his efforts in Harrisburg to better protect Pennsylvanians’ pets and service dogs.“Service dogs give so much back to our communities by providing vital assistance to our neighbors in need,” Dinniman said. “I want to thank Canine Partners for Life and other groups like it for their ongoing work in training service dogs and partnering them with companions.
“We are only on the very cusp of fully understanding the relationship between humans and animals, as research finds that dogs offer more and more benefits in terms of therapeutic and guide services, as well invaluable support of law enforcement, emergency services, and military personnel,” he added.
Canine Partners for Life is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the independence and quality of life of individuals with physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities or who are in other situations of need by providing and sustaining professionally trained service and companion dogs.
