WEST GROVE (October 12, 2018) –  State Senator Andy Dinniman personally thanked dozens of volunteers at Family Promise of Southern Chester County this week for their work in helping families who are experiencing homelessness.

“Family Promise of Southern Chester County fills an important void in ensuring that families experiencing sudden hardship have access to the basic and support services they need to get back on their feet,” Dinniman said. “I want to thank all the volunteers who make this program possible and in so doing, make our region a better place”

Dinniman presented a special Senate Citation to Executive Director Susan Minarchi recognizing all the volunteers, staff, supporters, and patrons whose efforts make Family Promise of Southern Chester County and its programs a reality.

Since it opened in 2015, Family Promise of Southern Chester County has grown to include support from 800 volunteers and 28 congregations in providing emergency shelter, meals, and social services for those in need.

The program has helped 28 families find and remain in stable housing situations. Without it, many of them would be couch surfing, sleeping in cars, or on the streets.

The West Grove-based homeless shelter is one of 200 affiliates nationwide celebrating its volunteers during Family Promise Week from October 21-28.

In addition, Minarchi, was recently selected to serve on the National Affiliate Council based on her exemplary leadership and growth of the program forthcoming to include the Octorara School District.
