I would like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and all the best for a healthy and prosperous New Year.
I want to remind you that my West Chester District Office continues to serve as a year-round collection point for canned goods, nonperishable food items and gift cards to local supermarkets for those in need.
My office, located at historic One North Church Street (corner of Church and Market streets), is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please be sure to check expiration dates on food items.
This year alone we have collected more than 700 pounds of food for those in need. All donations go to the West Chester Food Cupboard and the Salvation Army of West Chester, which have both experienced a sharp increase in the number of the individuals and families in need of food assistance.
In addition, this year we have partnered with local nonprofit David’s Drive 831 to collect coats for hospitalized and homeless veterans. We will be collecting new or gently worn, clean men’s coats until December 2, and the greatest need is for coats in larger sizes.
You are also welcome join us for an Open House during the West Chester Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade, this Friday, November 30 beginning at 6 p.m. In addition to an ideal location for parade viewing, our event will feature light refreshments and a performance by the Chancel Ringers of West Chester First Presbyterian Church. I encourage you to stop by and donate just a few canned goods or a coat to ensure that no one is left hungry or cold this holiday season.
This year and every year, it is crucial that we to step forward and answer the call of those in need. Your assistance could be the difference in keeping a veteran warm or making a local family’s holiday special.
