Dear Friend –

Daniel “the Miracle Dog” with his sister Shelby, a rescue who has been trained
Daniel “the Miracle Dog,” the namesake of Senate Bill 1329 who gained national fame for surviving an Alabama gas chamber. Today, Daniel lives happily with the Dwyer family in Nutley, New Jersey, where he has embraced a new life as a symbol against pet animal gas chambers.

I want to remind you to reach out to state Rep. John Maher in support of “Daniel’s Law” Senate Bill 1329, my legislation that puts an end to the gassing of dogs and cats in the Commonwealth.

Thanks to the support of animal advocates like you, this spring we were able to get Senate Bill 1329 passed unanimously by the Pennsylvania Senate. Now, we need your help in getting it through the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

First, the bill needs to be approved by the Pennsylvania House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Rep. Maher is the committee’s chairman and as such plays a key role in deciding whether SB 1329 advances to the House Floor for a final vote or stalls and dies in committee.

Our time is limited. The legislature will only be in session for a few weeks in the fall. We must get this bill passed through committee now so the House has ample time this fall for final approval. If Senate Bill 1329 is not approved before the legislative session expires at the end of the year, we will have to start all over again, including getting Senate approval, when the new legislature convenes in January 2013.

We have spent years trying to end the gassing of dogs and cats in Pennsylvania, and we are finally close to victory. Your help is desperately needed to make it a reality.

I urge you to contact Representative Maher immediately to let him know how important this bill is to you and how important it is for this bill to be approved by his committee in June before the House adjourns for the summer.

You can contact Representative Maher by:

Phone: (717) 783-1522
Post Mail: 113 Ryan Office Building
PO Box 202040
Harrisburg, PA 17120-2040

You have made the difference in getting Senate Bill 1329 through the Senate. Now, we must go the extra mile and get it through the House. We need to get “Daniel’s Law” on the governor’s desk for signature this session.

My hope is that we will be celebrating the end of dog and cat gassing in Pennsylvania this fall. But again, we can’t do it without your help.
