Dear Friend –

April is a busy month and as we continue to move into the budget process, I want to keep you updated on the latest news from Harrisburg and some upcoming events that may interest you.

April 19th Pet Protection Rally in Harrisburg:

I have joined with my colleague, Senator Rich Alloway II, to organize a Be Kind to Pets rally on Sunday, April 19 beginning at 2 p.m. on the Capitol steps to announce a bipartisan package of seven bills and two resolutions designed to protect pets. I encourage you to join us and bring your pets to show your support against animal abuse and inhumane treatment. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet the newest member of my family, Jazz, a standard poodle my wife and I recently rescued.

April 21st Telephone Town Hall:

I am holding a live telephone town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 21 at 7 p.m. It is an open forum for constituents to call in and ask questions on any number of topics related to state and local issues. I encourage you to ensure you are on the list of participants by signing up here and submitting questions ahead of time.

April 22nd Lyme Disease Film at West Chester University:

The Pennsylvania Lyme Disease Awareness Committee and I will host a screening of “Emergence,” a new documentary about Lyme disease on Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at West Chester University’s Sykes Student Union on Rosedale Avenue. Prior to the film, I will discuss Act 83 of 2014, the Lyme and Related Tick-Borne Disease Education, Prevention and Treatment Act. Chester County is ground zero for Lyme disease and I encourage everyone to come out to see this eye-opening documentary. More information here.

Senator DinnimanBoard of Trustees of Lincoln University:

Governor Tom Wolf recently appointed me as his representative on the Board of Trustees of Lincoln University. As the governor’s designee, I will work to ensure that we maintain Lincoln’s rich tradition of excellence, while bringing all the opportunities the university has to offer to the next generation of students. In particular, I plan to continue to work on efforts to expand existing dual enrollment programs between Lincoln and regional high schools.

Transportation Update:

I recently brought PennDOT officials and municipal leaders together for a tour of vital transportation improvements projects that are slated for construction in our region. We visited important transportation project sites in Phoenixville, Downingtown, East Whiteland, Penn Township, Parkesburg and Avondale. In addition, construction is set to begin this summer on major improvements to the Exton Train Station and work will begin next spring on the Paoli Train Station. To learn more about all the transportation projects coming to Chester County watch my latest episode of Capitol Update here.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events:

With warmer weather on the horizon, I know that many of us are taking on home repair projects, working on cars, getting boats ready for the summer or just doing some house cleaning. If you come across dangerous chemicals in your basement or garage, you can safely and properly dispose of them at any of the five remaining collection events scheduled throughout Chester County this spring and summer.
