EAST BRADFORD (January 22, 2020) – At this week’s meeting of the East Bradford Historical Commission, state Senator Andy Dinniman joined officials to celebrate and recognize a new historical grant he helped secure for the township.
The $10,000 grant, awarded through Pennsylvania’s Certified Local Government Grant Program, will support the creation and preparation of design guidelines for future projects involving historic resources.
“With this new grant, the East Bradford Historical Commission will have the ability to continue and expand its important work of historic preservation,” Dinniman, who serves on the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, said. “These design guidelines will serve as a model for others and will continue to bolster two integral aspects of Chester County: open spaces and historic places.”
The guidelines developed by the East Bradford Historical Commission will be based on the State Historic Preservation Office’s guidelines and will provide additional guidance on effective strategies for historic preservation in smaller communities.
Rich Phifer, Director of Property & Recreation of East Bradford and author of the grant proposal, expressed his satisfaction at the approval of the grant.
“Every grant is different – I’m happy we got this one through,” said Phifer.
