WEST CHESTER (July 17, 2020) – Cultural organizations and museums that experienced a loss of revenue from COVID-19 closures can apply to recently opened grants, state Senator Andy Dinniman announced. The funds come through the COVID-19 Cultural and Museum Preservation Grant Program.

“Chester County is home to many significant historical locations, museums, and cultural organizations,” Dinniman, who serves on the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, said. “It is imperative that we provide aid for these organizations to continue telling the story of Chester County, and continue making stories for generations to come.”

Eligible cultural organizations or museums must be within one of the following categories to be eligible for funding through the program:

  • Children’s Museum
  • General Museum with at least two equally significant disciplines
  • History Museum or Historical Site
  • Military or Maritime Museum
  • Natural History Museum
  • Accredited Zoo
  • Planetarium
  • Science and Technology Center
  • Orchestra
  • Art Museum
  • Performing Arts Organization

The maximum grant is $500,000 per eligible cultural organization or museum, and the minimum grant is $25,000.
