WEST CHESTER (June 17) – State Senator Andy Dinniman today issued the following statement on PennDOT’s agreement to advance the completion of the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) Bridge replacement:

“While I am pleased that we have made some progress and PennDOT has agreed to expedite the construction schedule by providing incentives for early completion of the Route 23 Bridge, I believe we need to stay diligent in identifying additional opportunities to get this project done as soon as possible.

My office has heard from dozens of motorists and residents who have been negatively affected by the bridge’s closure and related traffic congestion issues. This project continues to have significant economic and quality-of-life impacts on too many residents in the Phoenixville area.

With the beginning of the school year in the fall, I believe it is all the more important to complete this project this summer. My office will continue to work to identify any obstacles to construction or paths to accelerate it ahead of schedule.

I do appreciate PennDOT’s responsiveness to these on-going concerns and willingness to provide incentives to complete the bridge ahead of schedule and expand work hours.”
