Sheltered workshop programs, like Handi-Crafters and Brian’s House, provide meaningful work opportunities to those facing barriers to traditional employment. They provide jobs for our friends and neighbors with disabilities – jobs that offer an invaluable social outlet and a sense of independence and self-worth.
But proposed changes within the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Consolidated and Person/Family Directed Support Waivers (coming down from the federal level) will impact adult day centers and sheltered workshops for individuals with disabilities. These changes could limit the number of jobs they could provide and potentially jeopardize their entire operations.
Please join us and help spread the word to anyone you know who may be impacted or interested. For more information, contact my West Chester District Office at (610) 692-2112.
