The bill also gives police officers, humane officers or other public safety professionals the authority to remove the dog or cat from the unattended motor vehicle if they believe the dog or cat is suffering.
Recently, Senate Bill 636 was unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now, I need your help to get the bill passed by the full Senate.
Please contact: Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa, and Senate Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati and tell them to call Senate Bill 636 up for a vote now – before the Senate adjourns for the summer. Their contact information is included below.
A few facts:
Senate Bill 636 is supported by AAA and the Pennsylvania FOP.
Currently, 17 states have laws protecting animals from being left in hot cars.
On an 80-degree day, the temperature inside a car can reach 99 degrees in just ten minutes, 109 degrees within twenty minutes, and 114 degrees within thirty minutes.
Senate Bill 636 has bipartisan support with 12 co-sponsors from both sides of the aisle.
Time is running out. Let’s not let another summer go by without passing this bill and providing better and stronger protections for our dogs and cats.
Sincerely,
Andy Dinniman
