Dear Friends,

How Can I Protect MyselfI want to keep you updated on the latest information on the unprecedented event facing Pennsylvania and Chester County regarding COVID-19.

  • Beginning today (March 16), my West Chester District Office will be closed temporarily to walk-ins, public meetings, and appointments. I did not make this decision lightly, but I have a duty to follow the guidelines in place to protect public health.

The office, with many staff working from home or remotely, will continue to operate during this public health emergency. We will be answering phones, holding virtual meetings, and regularly responding to voicemail and email correspondence.

  • To date, there are 63 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania (including 4 presumptive cases in Chester County). Chester County has an interactive map that can be viewed here.
  • All schools across Pennsylvania are closed for 10 days, effective today (March 16). We are working with school districts and the Chester County Intermediate Unit to ensure that students who rely on school for meals are provided with the food and nutrition they need. We are also working to ensure that those who lack online access have the resources to participate in remote learning. Information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Chester County guide to essential services (departments working on-site or remotely) is available here.
  • COVID-19 testing information from the Pennsylvania Department of Health is available here.
  • Important emergency contact numbers are posted at the end of this e-mail.

I also encourage you to visit the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Chester County Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for accurate information and updates.

I will be sure to keep you informed of the latest updates via e-mail, on my social media channels, and at I know this is an unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation. I know it can be scary and stressful.

But we will get through this. And I look forward to reopening the office to the public as soon as possible.

Stay calm. Stay healthy. And if you don’t have to go out, stay home.
